Background | Secretory Component Glycoprotein is an epithelial transport receptor for polymeric IgA and IgM. Antibody to secretory component has been shown to be useful for identifying glandular carcinomas. Defects in Secretory Component Glycoprotein are the cause of lipoid proteinosis (LiP), also known as lipoid proteinosis of Urbach and Wiethe or hyalinosis cutis et mucosae. LiP is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by generalized thickening of skin, mucosae and certain viscera. Classical features include beaded eyelid papules and laryngeal infiltration leading to hoarseness. Histologically, there is widespread deposition of hyaline material and disruption/reduplication of basement membrane. Examples of positive human tissues: secretory mucosa of gastrointestinal and respiratory tract, epithelia of salivary glands, endometrium, endocervix, kidney, prostate, mammary gland.Synonyms: Human Immunoglobulin A |
Research Area | Immunology, Secondary Antibodies |
Application Notes | Optimal working dilutions should be determined experimentally by the investigator. |
Restrictions | For Research Use only |
Reconstitution | Restore by adding 0.5?mL sterile distilled water. |
Concentration | 0.4 mg/mL |
Buffer | Phosphate Buffered Saline (?pH 7.2) without foreign proteins. |
Preservative | Without preservative |
Handling Advice | Avoid repeated thawing and freezing. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. |
Storage | 4 °C/-20 °C |
Storage Comment | Store the antibody lyophilized at 2-8 °C for one month or (in aliquots) at -28 °C for longer. Diluted ascites should be stored at 2-8 °C, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day. |
